In the last 10 years or so, bed bugs have made a resurgence. Along with rats, bed bugs seem to cause the most stress for customers. They generally get accidentally brought into the home and begin to take up residence and use the occupants as their feeding source. They can also potentially move from one unit to another in a condo/apartment building, especially if the adjoining unit has a severe problem and when there is no longer a food source (person) in the original unit. They will generally be found within 5-10 feet of the bed itself, and mostly found on the mattress, box spring, frame, and headboard.
Thorough physical removal (vacuuming floors, mattress seams, washing linens, then immediately disposing of the vacuum bag, or fully cleaning the canister) is the first step in control. Residual treatments using different effective products are then used to eliminate the problem, especially in areas that are inaccessible to physical removal.
